Mathworks Accepting Applications For Junior Summer Math Camp

At the half-day camp, students explore math problems together and share in mathematical exploration and discovery.

SAN MARCOS – The Mathworks Program at Texas State University is currently accepting applications for its half-day Junior Summer Math Camp (JSMC).

At the half-day camp, students explore math problems together and share in mathematical exploration and discovery. Students in younger grade levels are introduced to algebra concepts through play-acting and the more advanced grades engage in problem solving and discrete math.

The half-day camp features multi-level curriculum and runs 8 a.m.-noon June 4-15 at San Marcos High School. The camp is open to students in grades 3-8. The application deadline is May 15. The non-residential day camp offers breakfast, lunch and a snack. Bus service is available for San Marcos CISD students.

Tuition is $400, but scholarships are available through a recent $16,000 grant from the HEB Tournament of Campions to the JSMC.

The donation will provide scholarships for students with financial need, helping to ensure that all students can attend the JSMC regardless of their financial background.

Mathworks also received a grant of $15,000 from the American Math Society Epsilon Fund to support the Mathworks Honors Summer Math Camp, a six-week, multi-year residential program for talented high school students.
