May Is Older Americans Month In Hays County

The Hays County Commissioners Court Tuesday proclaimed May 2015 as Older Americans Month in Hays County. Hays County Judge Bert Cobb, M.D., accepted the proclamation on behalf of older Hays County residents, noting that older residents bring a wealth of experience, wisdom and volunteerism to all facets of life.

The proclamation encourages older Americans to continue to take charge of their own health, become engaged with their communities, and make a positive impact in the lives of others. “Recognition of older Americans and their involvement in our lives can help us achieve stronger and more meaningful connections with each other and enrich our community’s quality of life,” according to the document.

Older Americans in Hays County can find assistance with a variety of services through the Area Agency on Aging by visiting www.co.hays.tx.us and choosing Health & Community from the Community dropdown. Local volunteers Ann Berghammer-Miller and Miles Nelson work through the agency to provide personalized assistance with issues facing older residents.
