SAN MARCOS – Ameerah McBride has been named Chief Diversity Officer, Director of Equity and Access and Title IX Coordinator at Texas State University.
McBride comes to Texas State from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, where she served as the director of the Office of Equal Opportunity and Access.
“I’m looking forward to joining the Bobcat family at Texas State and working with students, faculty and staff as the university moves forward with its strategic diversity plan,” McBride said. “My family is excited about the move to Central Texas and the opportunity to live, work and play in this community.”
McBride earned her B.A. in political science from Clark Atlanta University, her M.S. in administration of justice from the University of Phoenix and her Juris Doctorate from Ohio Northern University. She is a Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional and Certified Diversity and Inclusion Recruiter.
Prior to the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, McBride was an investigator/deputy Title IX coordinator at Kansas State University.
McBride has also served as an investigator with the Fulton County Department of Family and Children Services in Atlanta, Ga. She is a native of Trenton, N.J.
The Office of Equity and Access at Texas State provides training and hiring guidelines to assist departments in the hiring of faculty and staff.
The office also supports agents of the university in achieving its diversity initiatives as outlined in the University Strategic Plan.
In addition, Equity and Access manages the equal employment opportunity program, investigating claims of harassment and discrimination on campus.
