Men’s basketball was the lone Bobcat squad to claim top honors in a sport.
NEW ORLEANS – The Sun Belt Conference announced the top Team GPA Awards for the 2016-17 academic year on Friday. Claiming the top GPA for men’s basketball was Texas State with a 3.04 GPA.
Men’s basketball was the lone Bobcat squad to claim top honors in a sport. The team was also the only SBC men’s basketball program to finish with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
TXST’s performance in the classroom earned the team the NABC Team Academic Excellence Award back in July. Five Bobcats were honored at the Oak Farms Dairy Athletics Academic Awards in July with Deris Duncan and Nathan Josephs taking home “Cream of the Crop” honors for maintaining a GPA of 4.0 during a semester.
Receiving Academic Achievement awards were Bobby Conley, Immanuel King and Nijal Pearson.
Other Bobcat programs finishing the academic year with at least a 3.0 GPA was men’s golf, men’s cross country, soccer, softball, tennis and volleyball.
