On Friday and Saturday, April 21-22, 2017, they performed in a competition held at Sea World in San Antonio, and they brought home the Circle of Champions Award.
According to their director Holly Hess, they also won the Best in Category Award for Team Jazz, Team High Kick, and Team Pom and were the runners-up for Team Hip-Hop.
The Dancing Diamond officers won the Best in Category for Lyrical and were first runners-up for Officer Jazz, Officer Hip Hop, as well as the Circle of Champions Award.
The team overall earned a First Division rating and Sweepstakes designation for all of their danced. Junior Captain, Avery Pacheco, won first place for her solo presentation.
Hess reports that the Dancing Diamonds were officially recognized and invited to perform in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade or the Citrus Bowl.
