Staff Reports
On Tuesday, March 17, the San Marcos City Council will hold a discussion and provide direction to the city manager regarding motor-assisted scooters.
In December 2019, the council considered an ordinance prohibiting motor-assisted scooters within the city limits on the first of two readings.
However, the council postponed the ordinance of the second of two readings pending further discussion due to concerns about the impact on private scooter owners.
The topic will return before the council during their work session, where they will receive a presentation and provide direction to staff on how to proceed.
According to the agenda, the council has five options to choose from.
The agenda states staff is recommending the prohibition of e-scooters in the public right of way, streets, and sidewalks.
The San Marcos City Council meets for its work session on the first and second Tuesday of every month at 3:00 PM.
The work session is open to the public and will convene in the San Marcos City Council chambers at city hall.
No public comment period is offered during the work session.
