MyI35 Corridor Weekly Road Construction Alerts For Saturday, Sept. 23 – Friday, Sept. 29

While construction is tough on everyone, TxDOT is trying to do everything it can to minimize disruptions. TxDOT knows you’ve got to get where you need to go.

The project reverses two ramps on southbound I-35 and improves the I-35 southbound frontage road between RM 1431 and FM 3406.

I – 3 5   A  T   S L A U G H T E R   C R E E K   O V E R P A S S

The existing Slaughter Creek Overpass will be replaced with a new bridge. A new southbound to northbound U-turn bridge will be added. The project will also widen the southbound frontage road to two lanes through the intersection and install safety lighting from Slaughter Lane to Onion Creek Parkway.

New braided ramps (where one ramp crosses over the other) are being constructed along the northbound I-35 mainlanes between Hester’s Crossing and RM 620 to eliminate merging conflicts. The northbound and southbound intersections of US 79 and the I-35 frontage roads are also being reconstructed to add a third left-turn for westbound US 79.

Closures are weather permitting.  

  • I-35 reduced to one lane in both directions between RM 620 & Westinghouse Rd. Ramps will close as needed. | Nightly from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. Sunday, September 24 through Thursday, September 28

 

  • Southbound I-35 reduced to one lane between RM 1431 & US 79. The entrance ramp from Westinghouse Rd will also close. | 9 p.m. Monday, September 25 to 5 a.m. Tuesday, September 26
  • Northbound to Southbound I-35 U-turn closed. | Temporarily closed until Thursday, October 12

I – 3 5   A T   O L T O R F   S T R E E T

Improvements include the reconstruction of the Oltorf Street bridge, improving entrance/exit ramps and frontage roads, constructing new extended entrance/exit lanes for mainlanes and ramps, and adding U-turns in both directions at Oltorf Street.

Bicycle and pedestrian enhancements will also be made along the I-35 frontage roads in each direction within the project limits.

  • I-35 reduced to one lane in each direction at Oltorf St. The ramps to Oltorf St will also close. | Nightly from 10 p.m. until 6 a.m. Sunday, September 24 through Thursday, September 28

 

  • Northbound I-35 frontage road controlled by flaggers between Woodward St & Oltorf St.| Daily from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Monday, September 25 through Friday, September 29

 

  • Oltorf St closed at I-35. Use Woodland Ave or Woodward St. | Nightly from 8 p.m. until 10 a.m. Friday, September 22 & Saturday, September 23

I – 3 5   F R O M   S T A S S N E Y   L A N E   T O   W I L L I A M   C A N N O N   D R I V E

The project will reconstruct the bridge structures at Stassney Lane and William Cannon Drive, as well as the frontage road bridge over Williamson Creek.

New U-turn bridges will be added in both directions at Stassney Lane and William Cannon Drive, and the I-35 mainlanes will be widened to incorporate shoulders and extended entrance/exit lanes to allow for better merging.

Bicycle and pedestrian enhancements are also being made, and new safety lighting is being installed.

  • Southbound I-35 frontage road right turn lane to Stassney Ln closed. | From 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Monday, September 25

 

  • Northbound I-35 frontage road left lane closed between Slaughter Ln & William Cannon Dr. | Daily from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Monday, September 25 through Wednesday, September 27

 

  • I-35 reduced to one lane in both directions between Stassney Ln & William Cannon. | Nightly from 9 p.m. until 6 a.m. Wednesday, September 27 & Thursday, September 28
