TxDOT, My I35 and Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority’s Weekly Corridor Traffic and Road Construction Update for the IH-35 Corridor

TxDOT knows you’ve got to get where you need to go.

While construction is tough on everyone, TxDOT is trying to do everything they can to minimize disruptions.

PROJECT OVERVIEW | Two ramps on the southbound I-35 frontage roads between RM 1431 and FM 3406 are being reconstructed and reversed to address traffic congestion and improve I-35 frontage road and mainlane operations.

Closures are weather permitting.

 

  • Southbound exit ramp to FM 3406 (Old Settlers Blvd) closed. Use the southbound RM 1431 exit ramp and use the bypass lane to reach FM 3406. | Until March 2018, weather permitting

PROJECT OVERVIEWNew braided ramps (where one ramp crosses over the other) are being constructed along the northbound I-35 mainlanes between Hester’s Crossing and RM 620 to eliminate merging conflicts.

The northbound and southbound intersections of US 79 and the I-35 frontage roads are also being reconstructed to add a third left-turn for westbound US 79.

  • Northbound I-35 frontage road left lane closed between Mays St & McNeil Rd. | Nightly from 7 p.m. until 5 a.m. Sunday, December 10 through Thursday, December 14

 

  • I-35 U-turns closed in both directions at McNeil Rd. | Nightly from 7 p.m. until 5 a.m. Sunday, December 10 through Thursday, December 14

 

  • I-35 U-turns closed in both directions at US 79. | Nightly from 8 p.m. until 5 a.m. Tuesday, December 12 through Thursday, December 14

 

  • McNeil Rd under I-35 closed in both directions. Detour to the frontage road. | Nightly from 7 p.m. until 5 a.m. Sunday, December 10 through Tuesday, December 12

 

  • McNeil Rd under I-35 left lanes closed in both directions. | From 8 p.m. until 5 a.m. Wednesday, December 13 & Thursday, December 14

 

  • Northbound & southbound I-35 frontage road closures at US 79. | Nightly from 8 p.m. until 5 a.m. Tuesday, December 12 through Thursday, December 14

I – 3 5   A T   O L T O R F   S T R E E T

PROJECT OVERVIEW | Improvements include the reconstruction of the Oltorf Street bridge, improving entrance/exit ramps and frontage roads, constructing new extended entrance/exit lanes for mainlanes and ramps, and adding U-turns in both directions at Oltorf Street.

Bicycle and pedestrian enhancements will also be made along the I-35 frontage roads in each direction within the project limits.

  • Northbound I-35 frontage road right lane closed between Woodward St & Oltorf St. | Daily from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Monday, December 11 through Friday, December 15

 

  • Northbound I-35 frontage road right lane closed at Oltorf St. | From 8 p.m. until 5 a.m. Monday, December 11 & Tuesday, December 12

 

  • Northbound I-35 frontage road left lane closed between exit 230 for Ben White Blvd/Woodward St and Teri Ln. | Daily from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Monday, December 11 through Friday, December 15

 

  • Northbound & southbound I-35 left lane closed between Oltorf St & US 290/SH 71. | From 8 p.m. until 5 a.m. Tuesday, December 12 & Wednesday, December 13

 

  • Northbound I-35 frontage road left lane closed between Woodward St & Oltorf St. The Oltorf St exit will also close. | From 8 p.m. until 5 a.m. Wednesday, December 13 & Thursday, December 14

I – 3 5   F R O M   S T A S S N E Y   L A N E   T O   W I L L I A M   C A N N O N   D R.   

PROJECT  OVERVIEW | The project will reconstruct the bridge structures at Stassney Lane and William Cannon Drive, as well as the frontage road bridge over Williamson Creek.

New U-turn bridges will be added in both directions at Stassney Lane and William Cannon Drive, and the I-35 mainlanes will be widened to incorporate shoulders and extended entrance/exit lanes to allow for better merging.

Bicycle and pedestrian enhancements are also being made, and new safety lighting is being installed.

  • Northbound I-35 right lane closed between Slaughter Ln & William Cannon Dr. Ramps will close as needed. | Nightly from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. Sunday, December 10 through Thursday, December 14

 

  • Southbound I-35 frontage road right lane closed between Slaughter Ln exit & Slaughter Ln. | 10 p.m. Sunday, December 10 to 6 a.m. Monday, December 11

 

  • Northbound I-35 frontage road right lane closed between Slaughter Ln & William Cannon Dr. | Daily from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Monday, December 11 through Friday, December 15

 

  • Southbound I-35 frontage road left lane closed between William Cannon Dr entrance ramp & Slaughter Ln. | Daily from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Monday, December 11 through Friday, December 15

PROJECT OVERVIEW | The intersection of FM 3406 and the I-35 frontage roads are being improved, and the FM 3406 bridge over I-35 is being reconstructed.

Closures are weather permitting.

  • The FM 3406 (Old Settlers Blvd) bridge closed to eastbound traffic. Westbound traffic will detour to the newly constructed U-turn Bridge. | Until summer 2018, weather permitting

 

  • Southbound I-35 reduced to one lane under FM 3406. | Nightly from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. Wednesday, December 13 & Thursday, December 14
