MyI35 Corridor Weekly Road Construction Alerts For Sunday, Sept. 10 – Friday, Sept. 15

While construction is tough on everyone, TxDOT is trying to do everything it can to minimize disruptions. TxDOT knows you’ve got to get where you need to go.

New braided ramps (where one ramp crosses over the other) are being constructed along the northbound I-35 mainlanes between Hester’s Crossing and RM 620 to eliminate merging conflicts. The northbound and southbound intersections of US 79 and the I-35 frontage roads are also being reconstructed to add a third left-turn for westbound US 79.

  • Northbound I-35 frontage road left lane closed between Gattis School Rd & RM 620. | Nightly from 8 p.m. until 5 a.m. Sunday, September 10 through Thursday, September 14

 

  • Southbound I-35 reduced to one lane between Westinghouse Rd & US 79/Sam Bass Rd. | Nightly from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. Sunday, September 10 through Thursday, September 14

 

  • Northbound I-35 right lane closed between Gattis School Rd & RM 620. | Nightly from 8 p.m. until 5 a.m. Tuesday, September 12 through Thursday September 15

 

  • Closures on I-35 frontage roads in both directions between RM 620 & FM 3406. | Nightly from 8 p.m. until 5 a.m. Sunday, September 10 through Thursday, September 14

 

  • Expect closures in both directions on US 79/Sam Bass Rd between I-35 & Mays St. | Nightly from 8 p.m. until 5 a.m. Sunday, September 10 through Thursday, September 14

Work includes adding a southbound intersection bypass lane to allow through-traffic to bypass the traffic signal, re-configuring the entrance/exit ramps, and realigning the southbound frontage road to add a new roundabout that improves traffic flow and safety.

Bicycle and pedestrian enhancements will also be made within the project limits.

  • Alternating lane closures southbound I-35 between 51st St & Airport Blvd. | 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. Sunday, September 10

Improvements include the reconstruction of the Oltorf Street bridge, improving entrance/exit ramps and frontage roads, constructing new extended entrance/exit lanes for mainlanes and ramps, and adding U-turns in both directions at Oltorf Street.

Bicycle and pedestrian enhancements will also be made along the I-35 frontage roads in each direction within the project limits.

  • Alternating closures southbound I-35 frontage road between Algarita Ave & Oltorf St. | Nightly from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. Sunday, September 10 through Thursday, September 14

 

  • Northbound I-35 right lane closed between Royal Hill Dr & Oltorf St. The entrance ramp between Woodward St & Oltorf St will also close. | 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. Sunday, September 10 & Monday, September 11

 

  • Flaggers will periodically stop traffic northbound I-35 frontage road between Woodward St & Oltorf St | Daily from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Monday, September 11 through Friday, September 15

 

 

  • Westbound Oltorf St right lane closed approaching I-35 | 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. Monday, September 11

I – 3 5   F R O M   S T A S S N E Y   L A N E   T O   W I L L I A M   C A N N O N   D R I V E

The project will reconstruct the bridge structures at Stassney Lane and William Cannon Drive, as well as the frontage road bridge over Williamson Creek.

New U-turn bridges will be added in both directions at Stassney Lane and William Cannon Drive, and the I-35 mainlanes will be widened to incorporate shoulders and extended entrance/exit lanes to allow for better merging.

Bicycle and pedestrian enhancements are also being made, and new safety lighting is being installed.

  • Northbound I-35 frontage road right lane closed at William Cannon Dr | Daily from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Monday, September 11 through Friday, September 15

 

  • Flaggers will periodically stop traffic southbound I-35 frontage road between Corral Ln & Foremost Dr. | Daily from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Monday, September 11 through Wednesday, September 13

 

  • Eastbound William Cannon right lane closed at I-35. | Daily from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Monday, September 11 through Friday, September 15

TRAFFIC ALERT: I-35 Mainlanes and FM 3406 to close for U-turn bridge construction.

  • Southbound I-35 frontage road right lane closed between Wolfe Ln & FM 3406. The southbound left turn lane at FM 3406 will close Wednesday night. | Nightly from 7 p.m. until 5 a.m. Wednesday, September 13 & Thursday, September 14
