Closures, Detours, Traffic Alerts

for Week of June 15 – 21

 

I-35 AT POSEY ROAD

PROJECT OVERVIEW | This project will construct a new overpass on I-35 over Posey Road, add two new U-turns in each direction at Posey Road, perform ramp reversals and convert two-way frontage roads to one-way.

Currently, the I-35 mainlanes go under Posey Road. The new configuration will have the I-35 mainlanes going over Posey Road.

Closures are weather permitting

  • Posey Road closed at I-35. | Until further notice

 

  • Northbound I-35 exit #199 for Posey Road and exit #200 for Centerpoint Road are closed. The southbound I-35 entrance ramp south of Posey Road is also closed. | Until further notice

 

  • Northbound I-35 right lane closed nightly between York Creek Road and Centerpoint Road. | Tuesday, June 18 through Thursday, June 20 from 9 PM until 5 AM

 

  • Southbound I-35 right lane closed between Centerpoint Road and York Creek Road. Southbound exit #199 for Posey Road will also be closed. | Sunday, June 16 from 9 PM until 5 AM

I-35 FROM STASSNEY LANE TO WILLIAM CANNON DRIVE

PROJECT OVERVIEW | The project will reconstruct the bridge structures at Stassney Lane and William Cannon Drive, as well as the frontage road bridge over Williamson Creek.

New U-turn bridges will be added in both directions at Stassney Lane and William Cannon Drive, and the I-35 mainlanes will be widened to incorporate shoulders and extended entrance/exit lanes to allow for better merging.

Bicycle and pedestrian enhancements are also being made, and new safety lighting is being installed.

  • Southbound I-35 frontage road reduced to one lane between William Cannon Drive and Foremost Drive. | Through June 2019

 

  • Southbound I-35 frontage road right-turn lane will be closed daily at Stassney Lane. | Monday, June 17 through Friday, June 21 from 9 AM until 3 PM

 

  • Southbound I-35 frontage road right lane will be closed daily between Little Texas Lane and William Cannon Drive. | Monday, June 17 through Friday, June 21 from 9 AM until 3 PM

 

  • Eastbound Stassney Lane right-turn lane will be closed daily at I-35. | Monday, June 17 through Friday, June 21 from 9 AM until 3 PM

I-35 AT OLTORF ST.

PROJECT OVERVIEW | Improvements include the reconstruction of the Oltorf Street bridge, improving entrance/exit ramps and frontage roads.

Additionally, construction of new extended entrance/exit lanes for mainlanes and ramps, and adding U-turns in both directions at Oltorf Street.

Bicycle and pedestrian enhancements will also be made along the I-35 frontage roads in each direction within the project limits.

  • Look for north and southbound I-35 frontage road closures nightly at Oltorf Street. | Monday, June 17 through Wednesday, June 19 from 8 PM until 5 AM

 

  • Northbound I-35 reduced to one lane between Woodward Street and Oltorf Street. The Oltorf Street exit #232 and following entrance ramp will also be closed. | Monday, June 17 from 10 PM until 5 AM

 

  • Northbound I-35 reduced to one lane nightly between Woodward Street and Oltorf Street. | Tuesday, June 18 through Friday, June 21 from 10 PM until 5 AM

 

  • Southbound I-35 left lane closed between Oltorf Street and US 290/SH 71. | Tuesday, June 18 from 10 PM until 6 AM

 

  • Southbound I-35 frontage road right lane closed at Oltorf Street. | Thursday, June 20 from 8 PM until 6 AM

 

  • Expect east and westbound Oltorf Street closures nightly at I-35. | Monday, June 17 through Wednesday, June 19 from 8 PM until 6 AM

I-35 FROM RUNDBERG LN. TO US 290 EAST

PROJECT OVERVIEW | This project includes main-lanes and frontage road reconstruction and the addition of three new flyovers at US 183.

The project also includes reconstruction of the St. Johns Avenue Bridge, the addition of frontage road U-turns on both sides, intersection bypass lanes under St. Johns Avenue in both directions, extended entrance/exit lanes, and ramp and shoulder improvements.

  • South to northbound U-turn closed at US 183. | Until further notice

 

  • North and southbound I-35 reduced to two lanes from Rundberg Lane to US 290 East. | Friday, June 28 at 9 PM through Monday, July 1 until 5 AM

 

  • Fenelon Drive closed at the I-35 frontage road. | Wednesday, June 12 through Monday, June 17 until 5 AM

 

  • North and southbound I-35 frontage roads reduced to one lane nightly at St. Johns Avenue. | Monday, June 17 through Friday, June 21 from 9 PM until 5 AM

 

  • Southbound I-35 auxiliary lane closed nightly from US 183 to St. Johns Avenue. | Monday, June 17 through Friday, June 21 from 9 PM until 5 AM

 

  • North and southbound I-35 two left lanes closed nightly from US 290 East to Hermitage Drive. | Monday, June 17 through Friday, June 21 from 11 PM until 5 AM

I-35 AT FM 3406

PROJECT OVERVIEW | The intersection of FM 3406 and the I-35 frontage roads are being improved, and the FM 3406 bridge over I-35 is being reconstructed.

The FM 3406 (Old Settlers Blvd) bridge will close to eastbound traffic. Westbound traffic will detour to the newly constructed U-turn Bridge.

  • East and westbound FM 3406 reduced to one lane nightly at I-35. | Monday, June 17 through Friday, June 21 from 8 PM until 5 AM

I-35 FROM US 79 TO SH 45 NORTH

PROJECT ACTIVITY | New braided ramps (where one ramp crosses over the other) are being constructed along the northbound I-35 mainlanes between Hesters Crossing and RM 620 to eliminate merging conflicts.

I-35 AT COUNTY ROAD 305

PROJECT OVERVIEW | The project will reconstruct the County Road 305 bridge and realign County Road 304 East to connect to the newly constructed bridge. Pedestrian enhancements will also be made within the project limits.

St. Johns Avenue Bridge Long-Term Closure

Crews have closed the St. Johns Avenue bridge over the I-35 mainlanes. All traffic on St. Johns Avenue will turn right onto the I-35 frontage roads and utilize the non-signalized U-turns at US 183 or US 290 East to access St. Johns Avenue on the other side of I-35.

Bicyclists and pedestrians will still be able to safely cross I-35 at St. Johns Avenue on a temporary walkway restricted to non-vehicular traffic. The reconstructed bridge is expected to reopen late summer 2019, weather permitting.
