Z

I-35 AT POSEY ROAD

PROJECT OVERVIEW | This project will construct a new overpass on I-35 over Posey Road, add two new U-turns in each direction at Posey Road, perform ramp reversals and convert two-way frontage roads to one-way.

Currently, the I-35 mainlanes go under Posey Road. The new configuration will have the I-35 mainlanes going over Posey Road.

  • Northbound I-35 exit ramps at Posey Road (#199) and Centerpoint Road (#200) are closed. The southbound I-35 entrance ramp south of Posey Road is also closed. | Until further notice

 

  • Posey Road closed at I-35. | Until further notice

 

  • Northbound I-35 reduced to one lane from York Creek Road to Posey Road. | Monday, July 15 through Tuesday, July 16 from 9 PM until 5 AM

I-35 FROM STASSNEY LANE TO WILLIAM CANNON DRIVE

PROJECT OVERVIEW | The project will reconstruct the bridge structures at Stassney Lane and William Cannon Drive, as well as the frontage road bridge over Williamson Creek.

New U-turn bridges will be added in both directions at Stassney Lane and William Cannon Drive, and the I-35 mainlanes will be widened to incorporate shoulders and extended entrance/exit lanes to allow for better merging.

Bicycle and pedestrian enhancements are also being made, and new safety lighting is being installed.

  • Southbound I-35 frontage road reduced to one lane from William Cannon Drive to Foremost Drive. | Through July 2019

 

  • Northbound I-35 left lane closed from William Cannon Drive to Nelms Drive. | Through early August 2019

 

  • Northbound I-35 left lane closed daily at Boggy Creek Drive. | Saturday, July 13 from 9 AM until 3 PM

 

  • Northbound I-35 frontage road closed daily from William Cannon Drive to Boggy Creek Drive. | Saturday, July 13 from 9 AM until 3 PM & Monday, July 15 through Friday, July 19 from 9 AM until 3 PM

 

  • Southbound I-35 frontage road left two lanes closed nightly at Stassney Lane. | Sunday, July 14 through Tuesday, July 16 from 8 PM until 5 AM

 

  • East and westbound Stassney Lane bridge closed nightly at I-35. | Sunday, July 14 through Wednesday, July 17 from 8 PM until 5 AM

 

  • Westbound William Cannon Drive right turn lane closed at the I-35 frontage road. | Monday, July 15 through Thursday, July 18 from 9 AM until 3 PM
  • Northbound I-35 frontage road left two lanes closed at Nelms Drive. | Wednesday, July 17 from 8 PM until 5 AM

 

  • Northbound I-35 frontage road left lane closed at Boggy Creek Drive. | Thursday, July 18 from 8 PM until 5 AM

I-35 AT OLTORF ST.

PROJECT OVERVIEW | Improvements include the reconstruction of the Oltorf Street bridge, improving entrance/exit ramps and frontage roads.

Additionally, construction of new extended entrance/exit lanes for mainlanes and ramps, and adding U-turns in both directions at Oltorf Street.

Bicycle and pedestrian enhancements will also be made along the I-35 frontage roads in each direction within the project limits.

  • Northbound I-35 frontage road right lane closed daily at Oltorf Street. | Monday, July 15 through Wednesday, July 17 from 9 AM until 3 PM

 

  • Northbound I-35 frontage road left lane closed at Oltorf Street. The Oltorf Street exit ramp will also be closed. | Tuesday, July 16 from 9 PM until 5 AM

 

  • Northbound I-35 left lane closed from Woodward Street to Oltorf Street. The Oltorf Street exit and entrance ramps will also be closed. | Wednesday, July 17 from 9 PM until 5 AM

 

  • Eastbound Oltorf Street right lane closed at I-35. | Monday, July 15 through Friday, July 19 from 9 AM until 3 PM

I-35 FROM RUNDBERG LN. TO US 290 EAST

PROJECT OVERVIEW | This project includes main-lanes and frontage road reconstruction and the addition of three new flyovers at US 183.

The project also includes reconstruction of the St. Johns Avenue Bridge, the addition of frontage road U-turns on both sides, intersection bypass lanes under St. Johns Avenue in both directions, extended entrance/exit lanes, and ramp and shoulder improvements.

  • I-35 reduced to two lanes in both directions from Rundberg Lane to US 290 East. The northbound US 183 (#240) and Rundberg Lane (#241) exits and southbound Rundberg Lane entrance will also be closed. | Friday, July 12 at 9 p.m. until Monday, July 15 at 5 a.m.

 

  • Southbound I-35 frontage road right lane closed daily from St. Johns Avenue to Huntland Drive. | Tuesday, July 16 through Wednesday, July 17 from 9 AM until 3 PM

 

  • St. Johns Avenue bridge closed at I-35. | Through late summer 2019

 

  • South to northbound I-35 U-turn closed at US 183. | Until further notice

 

  • Powell Lane closed at I-35. | Until further notice

I-35 AT FM 3406

PROJECT OVERVIEW | The intersection of FM 3406 and the I-35 frontage roads are being improved, and the FM 3406 bridge over I-35 is being reconstructed.

The FM 3406 (Old Settlers Blvd) bridge will close to eastbound traffic. Westbound traffic will detour to the newly constructed U-turn Bridge.

I-35 FROM US 79 TO SH 45 NORTH

PROJECT ACTIVITY | New braided ramps (where one ramp crosses over the other) are being constructed along the northbound I-35 mainlanes between Hesters Crossing and RM 620 to eliminate merging conflicts.

  • Northbound I-35 frontage road reduced to one lane nightly from Hesters Crossing to US 79. | Sunday, July 14 through Thursday, July 18 from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m.

 

  • Northbound I-35 reduced to one lane nightly from Hesters Crossing to RM 620. The RM 620 exit ramp will also be closed. | Sunday, July 14 through Thursday, July 18 from 8 p.m. until 5 a.m.

  • North and southbound I-35 frontage road rolling closures nightly from Bell County to Travis County. | Sunday, July 14 through Thursday, July 18 from 9 PM until 5 AM

 

  • Northbound I-35 right lane closed from Main Street in Buda to the Travis County line. | Sunday, July 14 from 9 PM until 2 AM

 

  • Southbound I-35 frontage road closed from SH 45 SE and Manchaca Springs Road. | Monday, July 15 from 2 AM until 5 AM

 

  • Southbound I-35 right two lanes closed from 51st Street to Airport Boulevard. The 51st Street entrance ramp will also be closed. | Monday, July 15 from 9 P until 5 AM

 

  • Various Guadalupe Street closures in both directions at I-35. | Sunday, July 14 through Thursday, July 18 from 9 PM until 5 AM

I-35 AT COUNTY ROAD 305

PROJECT OVERVIEW | The project will reconstruct the County Road 305 bridge and realign County Road 304 East to connect to the newly constructed bridge. Pedestrian enhancements will also be made within the project limits.

St. Johns Avenue Bridge Long-Term Closure

Crews have closed the St. Johns Avenue bridge over the I-35 mainlanes. All traffic on St. Johns Avenue will turn right onto the I-35 frontage roads and utilize the non-signalized U-turns at US 183 or US 290 East to access St. Johns Avenue on the other side of I-35.

Bicyclists and pedestrians will still be able to safely cross I-35 at St. Johns Avenue on a temporary walkway restricted to non-vehicular traffic. The reconstructed bridge is expected to reopen late summer 2019, weather permitting.
