A study conducted by New Braunfels in 2016 urged the municipality to create a public-private partnership to build and operate a broadband project in order to promote job creation, economic development and increased commercial activity.

The proposal should provide solutions for delivery of products and services, including funding, design, engineering, procurement, construction, operation, maintenance and repair as well as regulatory compliance that is adaptable to growth and innovative technology.

The deadline for submitting statement of qualifications is Aug. 24. A recommendation on the project will be presented to the city council, board of New Braunfels Utility and the EDC in November.
