SAN MARCOS, TX – A call to honor the planet in support of earth day has produced a vibrant, smart, and varied look at earth through 69 works of art by 42 area artists in a new gallery show hanging now through May 22 at the Price Center in downtown San Marcos. Most of the artwork is available to purchase and a portion of any proceeds benefits the non-profit Price Center’s ongoing community arts efforts.
Inspiration, reverence, and humor may all be found in the show, which hangs throughout the first-floor venues of the Center. In addition to traditional media like photography and painting, utterly unique works in metal sculpture, mosaics, and felting take the show to an entirely new level.
“We were pleased to have so many artists respond to our latest call,” said Joan Nagel, Price Center Arts Committee Chair. “And we are delighted and honored to be able to exhibit these works of art for the community to experience in person,” she added.
Community Art Shows are conducted by the Price Center Art’s Committee and funded in part through a grant from the San Marcos Arts Commission. A new Call for Art: Seeds of Change, honors International Sculpture Day on April 25, and is seeking sculptural art submissions suitable for use outdoors. Drop off dates for sculpture art are Monday, April Tues. April 19 and 20, 10-5. More specific requirements are available from the Center.
The gallery venues are open to the public M, W, F, 10-5; T, TH, noon-5; Sat., 11-1. For more information, please call 512-392-2900, stop by the Center at 222 W. San Antonio St., or visit price-center.org or Facebook @ Price Center & Garden.
