New I-35 Entrance, Exit Ramps At Slaughter Lane Complete, Old Ramps To Permanently Close

AUSTIN – The new entrance and exit ramps on I-35 at Slaughter Lane are now in their final configuration and the Texas Department of Transportation will permanently close the old ramps.

The closures of the northbound I-35 entrance ramp and the southbound Slaughter Lane exit (277) are a part of the I-35 from Stassney Lane to William Cannon Drive project.

Ramps were reconfigured and reconstructed along I-35 to provide for longer merge distances to improve safety and mobility.

On Sunday, Dec. 15, at 10 PM, north and southbound I-35 mainlanes will be reduced to two lanes at Slaughter Lane, as crews place barriers for the ramp closures, install new signage and restripe the pavement.

Northbound frontage road traffic will access the I-35 mainlanes at the entrance ramp just south of Boggy Creek Drive. Those traveling southbound on I-35 will use the new Slaughter Lane exit (227), which is already in service.

All lanes will reopen to traffic as work is completed, but no later than 5 AM.

Road signs have been placed to alert drivers of the upcoming closures and to notify them to enter and exit via the new ramps.
