Jason Mock, President & CEO
San Marcos Area Chamber Of Commerce
A few weeks ago, I wrote about the Chamber looking back on the year 2020. Today I would like to focus on the new year, a new beginning in our organization.
Two months ago, the Chamber Board of Directors gathered to discuss the 2021 year and what this organization would like to accomplish in the new year. We talked about the elements of taking a good organization up to a great one.
Now, I feel our organization is currently a good organization. Can it be better? Can it thrive even in the midst of challenging times?
The answer that your Board of Directors gave was Yes, and I agree. To make this happen, it can’t be just the board or the staff. It has to be the full membership of the Chamber to take us from good to great.
In the coming weeks, Chamber members will receive an email about working committees and groups to be part of. You will have the opportunity to help shape the Chamber’s future and become involved in our efforts to shape public policy, enhance the local business climate, and design and deliver new programs and services to benefit the business community.
In 2021 the Chamber is looking for champions to help move the organization forward, so I encourage you to sign up and help with a committee or two in an area you’re passionate about, so we can go from a good to a great organization.
The Chamber is also focused on bringing back our events and programs for 2021.
We will team up with the Greater San Marcos Partnership to kick off the new year with our Transportation Summit on February 25, 2021, to take an in-depth look at the challenges and opportunities that face San Marcos transportation systems today and into the next 20 years.
Our Annual Dinner will follow this in March and the State of the City in April. In addition to our major events, we will host monthly business to business networking events.
Starting with a new program called Power Networking Lunch that will be held on the 3rd Wednesday of the month from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. followed by Coffee & Commerce, which will occur last Friday of the month from 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
2021 is a new year with new beginnings for all. I look forward to seeing what the new year brings us, and I wish everyone nothing but happiness in 2021!
