Night Hawk Trades Steaks For Turkeys For A Good Cause

In 2016, Hays County Food Bank and its 20+ partner agencies distributed 679,456 pounds of food to an average of 8,500 food insecure residents each month.

For the third straight year, Night Hawk Frozen Foods in Buda will be shutting down production of their frozen meals in order to stuff holiday meal boxes for Hays County Food Bank.

Owners, Scott and Leanne Logan enjoy giving back to their community and have been involved with the food bank since November 2013. In 2014, they became a Turkeys Tackling Hunger sponsor, and have been this campaign’s title sponsor for 3 years.

Not only does Night Hawk give monetarily, but they also use their resources to stuff and store the holiday meal boxes. Leanne and Scott will also be in the assembly line at some point or another, filling holiday meal boxes alongside their employees.

The week prior to Thanksgiving, Little Guys Movers in San Marcos will transport the filled meal boxes to distribution sites throughout the county. Volunteers and food bank staff will gather at these sites to help hand out the boxes to low-income residents who registered to receive a holiday meal. Any qualified households that did not register for a holiday meal box are invited to come to the food bank for a final first come, first served distribution between 12:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. on Friday, November 17th. Holiday meal boxes will be given to households in need while supplies last.
