Farmers Market, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., San Antonio Street on south side of the courthouse. Fresh produce, arts and crafts every Saturday downtown.

 

Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2014

ELECTION DAY:  7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at designated polling places for City Council, County, State and Federal elections and State Constitutional Amendments. Please call Elections Administrator, 512.393.7310 for polling places or City Clerk, 512.393.8090 for information on City Election. Websites: www.sanmarcostx.gov/elections or www.co.hays.tx.us/elections . Note: Local election returns will be posted after polls close on City cable channels including Time Warner Ch. 10 and Grande Ch. 123-16)

 

Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2014

City Council, 4 p.m.:  Proclamations; 5 p.m.: Presentations/ Executive Session; 6 p.m.: Regular Session, Council Chambers, City Hall, 630 E. Hopkins. (Televised live on Time Warner Ch. 10 and Grande Ch. 123-16 and video streamed). Note: Meeting set for Wednesday instead of Tuesday due to City and State Elections. 

 

Thursday, Nov. 6, 2014 

Citizens Fire Academy Graduation, 7 p.m., Activity Center, 501 E. Hopkins.

 

Friday, Nov. 7, 2014    

            City Facilities Workshop with Council, 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., City Hall Conference Room,      630 E. Hopkins. 

Texas Arbor Day, 12 noon, City Park, 170 Charles Austin Drive. Volunteers will plant trees along the San Marcos River as part of the Habitat Conservation Plan.

 

Saturday, Nov. 8, 2014 

Veterans Day Parade, Downtown San Marcos, 8:30 a.m. breakfast sponsored by Parks & Recreation and Café on the Square; Parade at 10 a.m. Parks & Recreation. 512.393.8400. 

Farmers Market, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., San Antonio Street on south side of the courthouse. Fresh produce, plants, arts and crafts every Saturday downtown.

Art Squared, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., local artists’ market on the Hays County Courthouse lawn on second Saturday of each month, featuring pottery, paintings, sculpture, stained glass, fascinators, jewelry and other types of original art. Local musicians will perform all afternoon. 

Free Brush Drop Off and Mulching for San Marcos residential garbage & recycling customers (please bring your utility bill). Bobcat Blend will have a trailer to accept bags of leaves and pumpkins. Enter at San Marcos Animal Shelter, 750 River Road, and follow the signs.  Held second Saturday of each month (weather permitting) from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

 

Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2014 

Veterans Day Holiday, City offices, including City Hall, Utilities, Activity Center and Library will be closed for Veterans Day. Texas Disposal Systems will operate its usual Monday trash collection and recycling routes. 

 

Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2014

Healthy City Task Force, 3 p.m., San Marcos Activity Center, 501 E. Hopkins

City Council, packet meeting, 12 noon, Council Chambers, City Hall, 630 E. Hopkins. Workshop to review agenda for Nov. 18 regular City Council meeting.  (Televised live on Time Warner Ch. 10 and Grande Ch. 123-16 and video streamed).

Wine & Wassail Walk, 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. On the Square Downtown. A progressive wine and wassail tasting at more than a dozen downtown retailers. Tickets – $25 in advance at www.SMTXWineWalk.com Proceeds benefit United Way and the Main Street Program downtown improvement projects.

Plastic Paradise movie showing, 7 p.m., Price Seniors Center, 222 San Antonio Street.

Farmers Market, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., San Antonio Street on south side of the courthouse. Fresh produce, arts and crafts every Saturday downtown.

America Recycles Day, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on the courthouse lawn downtown. Interactive booths and plastic buyback to celebrate recycling in the United States.

 

Monday, Nov. 17, 2014 

City Council, 5:30 p.m., special meeting to canvass and certify election returns from Nov. 4 City Election and swear in elected officials, Council Chambers, City Hall, 630 E. Hopkins. (Televised live on Time Warner Ch. 10 and Grande Ch. 16 or 123-16 and video streamed).

Citizen Utility Advisory Board, 7 p.m., City Hall Conference Room, 630 E. Hopkins.

Planning & Zoning Commission, 6 p.m., City Council Chambers, City Hall, 630 E. Hopkins. (Televised live on Time Warner Ch. 10 and Grande Ch. 16 or 123-16 and video streamed).

 

Wednesday Nov. 26, 2014 

 

San Marcos Municipal Court at the Hays County Government Center, 712 S. Stagecoach Trail, will be closed in accordance with the Hays County facility holiday schedule.

 

Thursday, Nov. 27 and Friday, Nov. 28, 2014

Thanksgiving Holiday, City of San Marcos offices, including City Hall, Library, Activity Center, Municipal Building, and Electric Utility, will be closed. Texas Disposal Service (TDS) will postpone residential trash and recycling collection by one day: Thursday routes will be picked up on Friday and Friday routes on Saturday.
