Oceans Behavioral Hospital San Marcos Expands Services

Facility opens intensive outpatient program to treat young adults, older adults and seniors

Oceans Behavioral Hospital San Marcos, a behavioral health provider focused on the healing and long-term recovery, today announced the opening of its intensive outpatient program.

In this program, the hospital’s team of expert clinicians will provide ongoing outpatient treatment for a wide variety of behavioral health issues impacting adults 18 and older, including schizophrenia, affective disorders, behavioral illnesses that may be related to substance abuse, as well as less severe but debilitating illnesses such as anxiety disorders and depression.

The program will provide the following support to patients:

Safe, compassionate environment for healing
Intensive support while living at home or in current living arrangement
Monthly meetings with psychiatrists
Group therapy and individual counseling
Medication management
Education to help patients and family members or caregivers understand a diagnosis and associated symptoms
Assistance identifying early warning signs of relapse
Tools to support ongoing symptom management and overall well-being

“For patients to truly heal, treatment must often continue outside of a hospital setting,” said Clara Hollis, LCSW, administrator at Oceans Behavioral Hospital San Marcos. “Intensive outpatient treatment has the benefit of allowing participants to remain at home or in their current living arrangement, while receiving intensive supportform a clinical team and individuals in group therapy who are going through similar experiences. We wanted to provide these services not only as a way to ensure continued healing for our older adult and senior inpatient patients, but to fill a need within our community for increased mental health services.”

Intensive outpatient treatment is tailored to each individual’s needs. As patients improve, the frequency of counseling decreases while they transition to traditional outpatient treatment.

Oceans Behavioral Hospital San Marcos is located at 1106 N. Interstate 35. For more information, visitoceanssanmarocs.com. For admissions criteria or referrals, please call 512-353-0194.
