Bobcats Represent Texas State At Adidas Classic

LINCOLN, Neb. – Against some stiff competition at the Adidas Classic at the Devaney Sports Center, the Texas State track and field teams recorded 26 top 10 Sun Belt Conference marks with 15 being in the top three.

“For us this was an outstanding meet,” said Director of Track & Field/Cross Country Jody Stewart. “We didn’t travel a full roster but we had strong individual performances across the board. We competed well and continue to increase our numbers within the conference’s top 10 list.”

Antonisha Stewart won the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.38. Her mark tied the school record that she set last year and is the fastest in the conference this season. Posting the second-best mark in the league in the event was Kaylee Krenek in 8.53.

Recording three top times in the SBC was Tramesha Hardy.

The sophomore won the 60m dash in a personal best time of 7.46 and ran a season-best 23.94 to claim second in the 200m. She, along with Dawnshae Evans, Nia Dorner and DeAijha Hicks-Boyce, posted a school record time of 3:42.93 in the 4x400m relay.

In the women’s 60m, Hicks-Boyce ran a 24.64 and Dorner finished in 24.93 to place second and eighth in the SBC respectively.

Both Nikki Sanchez and Devina Schneider posted personal best times in their two events. Sanchez ran a 5:03.74 in the mile, third best in the conference, and Schneider crossed the finish line in 10:05.90 in the 3000m that ranks second in the league.

In the women’s high jump, Chelsie Decoud cleared a season-best 1.80m (5-10.75), the best in the SBC, to claim second in the high jump. Fellow Bobcat Courtney Johnson got over the bar at 1.77m (5-9.75) to set a new personal best and posted the second-best clearance in the conference. Raquel Robinson ranks 10 in the league after a mark of 1.65m (5-5).

Also with a top three league mark in the field events was Mylana Hearn in the triple jump. She is third after leaping 12.17m (39-11.25) in her first indoor meet of the season.

De’Marcus Porter is first in the Sun Belt Conference after running a 48.40 in the 400m.

Lincoln Warren crossed the finish line in the event with a new indoor personal best of 48.50 and Dexter Lee ran a 48.79 as the duo ranks third and fifth, respectively, in the conference.

Both Alvin Chikaeze and T’Mond Johnson have the second best marks in their respective events. Chikaeze uncorked a leap of 14.87m (18-9.5) in the triple jump to place third at the meet.

For the third meet in-a-row, Johnson set a new personal best in the shot put as he unleashed a throw of 17.57m (57-7.75) on his second throw.

Others recording top 10 SBC marks were Noe Belmares, Jr. (mile), Phillip Green III (200m), Madilyn King (3000m), Michael Madu (long jump), Joseph Meade (3000m), Esther Oyetunde (800m), Cody Schulz (60m), Evans (400m) and Dorner (60m).

The final regular season indoor meet takes Texas State to Birmingham, Alabama for the Jaguar Invitational on February 5 that will be run at the Birmingham Crossplex, home of the conference indoor championships
