Staff Reports

SAN MARCOS – CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital – San Marcos is expanding care and treatment for the children and families of San Marcos and Central Texas. In partnership with their sister hospital, The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio, the Emergency Department at CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital – San Marcos will provide enhanced pediatric and maternal services to patients.

This expansion of services will give families access to the comprehensive pediatric emergency and specialty experts from The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio. In addition to access and enhanced coverage, the new services will include:

  • Upgraded equipment
  • Pediatric clinical protocols
  • Maternal transport
  • Expanded pediatric air/ground transport
  • Alignment with The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio neonatal, pediatric and maternal services

As part of this partnership, KidSTOP outpatient services will also be provided. KidSTOP features lab and imaging services in a child-friendly environment to help ease the fear and anxiety some children may experience during treatment. There will also be direct access to pediatric specialists from The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio.

“Every parent wants the convenience of having high-quality specialized care for their children at a convenient location, so we are excited to bring these services to local families using the expertise and resources from The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio,” said Thomas McKinney, President, CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital – San Marcos. “This is just another example of our commitment to the elevation of care to the people of our region. We look forward to future collaborations that will further improve the wellness of our community.”
