Party in Your Park returns August 27

Staff Reports

SAN MARCOS — The City of San Marcos’ Parks and Recreation Department will host its first Party in Your Park event of 2021 on Friday, August 27. The event will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Dunbar Park, 801 Martin Luther King Drive.

The Party in Your Park event series typically occurs four times a year, bringing positive attention to the City’s neighborhood parks and providing an opportunity for neighbors to socialize. It’s free, open to the public, and features a variety of games and activities. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets or folding chairs to sit on if desired.

Healthy snacks and refreshments will be provided at no cost, Kona Ice will have snow cones available for purchase, and Texas State University’s Phi Xi Omega chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha will be giving away free backpacks to attendees at the event. The backpacks will be provided on a first-come, first-serve basis.

The Hays County Health Department, in conjunction with the City, will be onsite throughout the duration of the event to provide free doses of Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine. Vaccines will be available to individuals 12 years of age or older and no appointment is required. For more information about the vaccine clinic, contact the Hays County Health Department at 512.393.5520.
