Precinct 3 Commissioner Lon Shell is inviting members of the public with interest in or questions about the Kinder Morgan Permian Highway Pipeline to join him at a public meeting Tuesday, January 29, 5:30-8:00 p.m., at the Wimberley Community Center.
“We will share information about the planned route as well as discuss environmental concerns, property rights, and other issues related to the project and its potential impact on Hays County,” Shell said. “We want to share what we know now, what we expect, and to hear concerns from our residents.”
The meeting will include a panel of experts in relevant areas and a presentation by representatives who have been working with landowners in the area. Following the presentation there will be a question-and-answer session.
Representatives from Kinder Morgan have been invited to attend but are not on the agenda.
Hays County is one of several counties that will see a $2 billion, 430-mile pipeline project run through it by 2020.
The Permian Highway Pipeline is a proposed natural gas pipeline that will connect the Waha Natural Gas pipeline junction to markets on the Texas Gulf Coast. The pipeline will affect 16 counties in Texas including Hays.
Kinder Morgan will host its own open house and information session at the Wimberley Convention Center on February 12 from 6 PM to 8 PM.
