Peace & Understanding Focus Of New Price Center Art Show

San Marcos, TX – With great division in our county and the beginning of a busy holiday season of many diverse religions and cultures throughout our community and world, the Price Center’s Arts Committee is pleased to offer their newest show titled “Peace & Understanding.”

The unique display features 64 works of original art by 41 area artists depicting images, symbols, and concepts of peace, understanding, serenity, cooperation, empathy and compassion.

Works on display range from traditional oil paintings and black & white and color photography to unique mixed media, mosaics, assemblage, found and fused glass, quilts, other fiber art and more.

The show hangs throughout the facility until Jan. 4 and most works are available to purchase.

An Artists’ Reception will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 23, from 6 to 8 PM.

Guests can meet the artists, enjoy complimentary hors d’oeuvres, wine, infused water, and the live piano music of local preacher, performer, and personality Sonshine. The event is free and open to all.

Featured Artists in the show are:  Bobbi Abrego, Margaret Adie, Beth Alexander, Steve Aycock, Corie Babcock, Debangana Banerjee, Norman Bean, Susan Best, Shirley Bland, Garrie Borden, Ronnie Borden, Angie Carballo, Drew Carpenter, Georgianna Chenault, Claudette Cozzi, Karen Cross, Sally Cummings, Clay DeStefano, Teresa Edds, Anahi Garcia, Veronique Hahn, Michael Hannon, Sheila Hargett, Sherry Humphreys, Chelsea James, Robert Jones,   Gerald Kurten; Beverly Mangham, Diann McCabe, Lu Montondon, Joan Nagel, Judy Row, Pari Sandage, Gav Sears, Carol Serur, Marnie Silcocks, Cathy Sparks, Gary Springer, Tracy Weinberg, Shellie Williams, and Zac Witte.

The Price Center’s rotating art shows are made possible in part through grant funds from the San Marcos Arts Commission. A portion of any proceeds from the sale of works on display benefits the Price Center, which is operated by the Greater San Marcos Area Seniors Association (GSMASA), a 501 (c) 3 non-profit. 

“What’s Love Got to Do with It?” is the theme for the Committee’s next planned show, which will hang from mid-Jan. – February. The Call is open to any and all area artists.  Artwork will be accepted from 9 AM – 5 PM, Mon. and Tues. Jan. 6, & 7.
