Update: PEC Customers To Experience A Planned Power Outage

The new upgrades will double the current load capacity of 7200 volts to better serve the growing neighborhoods

UPDATE: The scheduled outages by Pedernales Electric Cooperative has been canceled for this week including Wednesday, April 19’s, outage. The company hopes to have the project rescheduled before the summer months.

Pedernales Electric Cooperative are expected to have a planned power outage for four neighborhoods in the San Marcos area on Wednesday, April 19.

The power will be shut off for a projected between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. and will affect residents and businesses in Vista de Los Santos, Ridge at Willow Creek, Willow Creek Estates and Laurel Estates.

 As part of a project to improve reliability and address growing energy needs, PEC crews will be upgrading the voltage for 258 transformers.

According to Jessica Tinsley, Changes Management and Communications Editor for PEC, the new upgrades will double the current load capacity of 7200 volts to better serve the growing neighborhoods. The project will affect 894 meters.

The project was originally planned for last fall, but “minor project adjustments required additional time.”

The notice states any property owners in the area who do not have power restored by 5:30 p.m. should contact PEC at 1-888-883-3379. In the event of bad weather, the project will be rescheduled for Thursday, April 20.

Property owners are asked to leave gates unlocked and restrain dogs.  If individuals affected by the power outage have any further questions about the project, call 1-877-372-0391 ext. 4 for General Project Inquires. the total list of those impacted is below.

  • Academy/McCarty Lane/Siesta Verde/The Estates/McCarty Oaks
  • Quail Run/Sleepy Hollow/Kingswood/Hamilton Hollow
  • Vista de los Santos/Ridge at Willow Creek/Willow Creek Estates/Laurel Estates
  • Hunter Road/Deerwood Estates/Villa West/IH35 Commercial/STAR Park/Fire Station
  • Centerpoint Commercial Center (restaurants & retail)
  • Posey Road/IH35 Commercial & Industrial/Francis Harris Road/York Creek Road/Watson
