“Projects like this underscore our commitment to system reliability and our members,” said Jerold Terry, a PEC director of regional operations.
Pedernales Electric Cooperative crews will perform system improvements from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 24-26 in the San Marcos area to better serve the growing energy needs of its members.
The improvements will require staggered interruptions of electric service. PEC mailed letters with more information to members who will be affected by the upgrades.
“Projects like this underscore our commitment to system reliability and our members,” said Jerold Terry, a PEC director of regional operations. “Conversions require cooperation from across the cooperative, and we’ve scheduled this conversion to minimize planned outages as much as possible. During this conversion, our crews will be manually adjusting transformers to accommodate increased voltage on PEC distribution lines so our members in San Marcos can continue to experience reliable service.”
Crews from PEC’s Kyle office and utility contractors will need access to PEC equipment on members’ property to complete these improvements.
Workers will climb poles and use bucket trucks to access transformers to perform the upgrades. PEC has requested that affected members leave gates unlocked and make sure animals are restrained. In the event of inclement weather, the work will be rescheduled for the next day.
Residents along and near McCarty, Hunter, Wonder World Dr and Centerpoint areas will be affected by the power outage.
Every effort will be made to restore service as quickly as possible. If electricity has not been restored by 5:30 p.m., members should call 888-883-3379.
