PEC Gives Customers Third Billing Reduction Since December 2014

PEC’s customers are to receive an additional billing reduction which started May 1.

The typical residential PEC member could save more than $175 a year with the three recent billing reductions.

During the April 21, 2015, Pedernales Electric Cooperative Board of Directors meeting, PEC Chief Executive Officer John Hewa announced a second Power Cost Adjustment (PCA) reduction for all rate classes. This is the third overall billing reduction in the past six months; an earlier PCA reduction was effective March 3 and a delivery charge reduction was effective Dec. 1, 2014.

For residential members, the PCA changed from -$0.003 to -$0.0055 per kilowatt-hour. Together, the three recent reductions total $11.50 per month in savings for every 1,000 kwh used, and the typical residential account could save more than $175 a year.

“We’re committed to saving members money,” said Hewa, “and we’re not stopping with this third reduction. The Co-op’s Board and staff will continue working to further reduce costs for all rate classes.”

The Cooperative’s PCA is reviewed monthly and reflects the actual cost of the power purchased for the members. The lower PCA, effective with bills rendered on or after May 1, is a result of lower natural gas prices that are being passed on by the Lower Colorado River Authority, the Co-op’s main power provider.
