PEC Gives More Than $24K To Eight Community Nonprofits

“It’s an honor to help fund these local nonprofit organizations that enrich our communities,” PEC Community Relations Coordinator Caroline Tinsley Porter said.

JOHNSON CITY, Texas – Through its Community Grants program, Pedernales Electric Cooperative (PEC) awarded $24,385 to eight local nonprofit organizations throughout its service territory.

“It’s an honor to help fund these local nonprofit organizations that enrich our communities,” PEC Community Relations Coordinator Caroline Tinsley Porter said.

PEC is proud to award grants to these area nonprofits for the following projects:

The Dog Alliance
Purchase automated external defibrillators as well as provide AED, CPR, and first aid training for staff.

Canyon Lake Community Resource and Recreation Center
Install energy-efficient lighting.

Health Innovation Center
Install surgical-grade lighting to assist students in practicing complicated medical procedures.

Henly Volunteer Fire Department
Purchase flight hazard marking materials to ensure safe takeoff and landing for rescue equipment.

$1,897

Driftwood Volunteer Fire Department
Purchase tech equipment to upgrade training room.

North Hays County Volunteer Fire Department
Purchase tech equipment to upgrade training room.

Pet Pals
Purchase oxygen concentrator to be used during free or low-cost spay and neuter operations.

Hays County Food Bank
Purchase security system and monitoring equipment.

PEC Community Grants are funded by its members through the PEC Power of Change program. Participants’ electric bills are rounded up to the nearest dollar, and the combined funds are used to supplement PEC Community Grants and education contributions.
