JOHNSON CITY, Texas — Pedernales Electric Cooperative (PEC) has announced a rate reduction to their base power cost that is expected to save members over $6 million dollars per year. The new rate is effective June 1 and results in a monthly savings of $1.25 per member account for 1,250 kWh of use.
The format of PEC electric bills is changing, too. Members will no longer see a Power Cost Adjustment (PCA) line item on their bill. Instead, the PCA will be absorbed into the base power cost.
The rate reduction combined with the PCA absorption means the new base power cost has been lowered to $.0455. The change means PEC members will have simpler and smaller electric bills.
“The PEC Board and its employees are committed to providing reliable electric service at some of the lowest rates in Central Texas,” said PEC Board President Paul Graf. “As a not-for-profit cooperative, we and our power providers are always working hard to find savings to pass on to our members.”
