PEC Ranks No. 10 Nationally In J.D. Power 2018 Customer Satisfaction Survey

“We’re honored our members have responded positively as we continue our efforts of providing low-cost, reliable electricity,” said PEC Chief Executive Officer Julie Parsley.

Johnson City, TX — During its July 16 board meeting, Pedernales Electric Cooperative announced the cooperative was ranked No. 10 in the nation for overall customer satisfaction and No. 7 among U.S. electric cooperatives according to the J.D. Power 2018 Electric Utility Residential Customer Satisfaction Study.

“We’re honored our members have responded positively as we continue our efforts of providing low-cost, reliable electricity,” said PEC Chief Executive Officer Julie Parsley. “At PEC, we’re proud of the work we do to brighten the lives and communities in our service territory.”

J.D. Power is a globally recognized and respected survey and statistics provider. PEC’s high score reflects members’ positive feedback over the past survey year.

The utility study, now in its 20th year, measures customer satisfaction with electric utility companies by examining six factors: power quality and reliability, price, billing and payment, corporate citizenship, communications and customer service.

Over the past year, PEC’s score in price positively improved by 43 points, while corporate citizenship increased 38 points and communications grew 34 points. PEC members continued to recognize the cooperative’s strong reliability record, which saw a 29-point boost over previous results.

PEC Vice President of Member Relations Tim Nance said cooperative employees’ commitment to serving members makes the difference and pushes PEC ahead of other utilities.

“Metrics don’t make us great — our people do,” Nance said. “Our employees have roots in the communities they serve, and they know how important that is. When you live and breathe and eat in the communities with people you serve every single day, it makes a big difference.”

PEC is the nation’s largest electric distribution cooperative, powering approximately one million lives across its 8,100-square-mile service area, which includes six of the 15 fastest growing counties in Texas. To learn more about PEC, visit pec.coop.
