PEC To Award $100,000 In Scholarships To Area Students

JOHNSON CITY, Texas — Pedernales Electric Cooperative will award $100,000 in scholarships this year to regional students who will attend the college, university, technical school, or trade school of their choice.

“PEC is always proud to support its young members on their educational journeys,” PEC Youth Engagement Representative Celeste Mikeska said. “We hope these scholarships open doors for students to accomplish great things and positively impact the communities we share.”

PEC gave its first 10 scholarship awards of $500 each in the spring of 2000.

In recent years, through the generous support of its members and the PEC Board of Directors, the program has grown to provide $100,000 in awards each year, helping even more students achieve their dreams.

Scholarships range from $2,500 to $10,000 and may be used to pay expenses at any accredited university, college, junior college, technical school, or trade school.

Each scholarship recipient must be a 12th-grade high school student through public, private, or home-schooled education, and the recipient’s parent or legal guardian must be a PEC member in good standing.

The deadline for applications is Monday, March 23, at 11:59 PM. Visit pec.coop/scholarship to apply.
