PODS Enterprises Inc. Opened New San Marcos Facility

PODS’ new 56,000 square-foot facility is now open and located at 2821 Leah Avenue, and we dropped by last week and spoke with Kai Friedrichsen, Manager of the new San Marcos location.
“We finished moving our Pflugerville facility and opened the doors on the 15th of September,” Friedrichsen said. “We have one location in San Antonio and had 2 locations in Austin and felt that we needed one of those locations to be more centrally located.”
When asked if they have geared up to full staff yet, Friedrichsen replied, “We have hired 2 new employees and will be bringing on another 8 in the next couple of months or sooner.”
On December 2, 2015, the Greater San Marcos Partnership (GSMP), the economic development organization for Hays and Caldwell Counties, announced that the moving and storage company, PODS Enterprises Inc., had chosen to consolidate its Central Texas operations into one location and creating 15 warehouse operations jobs.
“For PODS, location was the key as the company was looking to locate both their Austin and San Antonio markets into one main site,” remarked Adriana Cruz, President of the Greater San Marcos Partnership in her original announcement.
“San Marcos’ strategic location along IH-35 and proximity to SH-130 made it an ideal spot for the company to consolidate their Central Texas base. The city’s access to Austin and San Antonio combined with build-to-suit opportunities will increasingly prove to be some of our biggest assets as we continue to recruit jobs to and increase investment in the two-county region.”
“When it came time to consolidate our operations into one central location for our Austin and San Antonio markets, the San Marcos region was an obvious choice,” said PODS Representative Glenn Couch, Vice President of Uniprop. “This location with access to two major roads that connect the markets, the availability of land, and the assistance we received from the Greater San Marcos Partnership and the City of San Marcos were all factors in our decision. We are happy to be here and ready to get going.”
Founded in 1998, PODS currently provides moving and storage services to a population of more than 240 million consumers, in 48 U.S. states, Canada, Australia, and the UK through its company-owned and independent franchise network. To date the PODS network has completed more than 250,000 long-distance relocations, exceeded one million deliveries, and has over 140,000 PODS® containers in service.
