Possibility of strong to severe storms today in South-Central Texas…

UPDATE 12:42 AM: Flash Flood Warning for Hays County until 3:30 AM.

The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for Burnet, Llano, Mason and Williamson County until 10 PM Wednesday evening.

A tornado watch has also been issued for Gillespie, Blanco, Hays, Travis, Caldwell, Bastrop, Lee, Kendall, Comal, Guadalupe, Gonzales, Wilson and Bexar counties until 2 a.m. Thursday morning.

Numerous to widespread showers and thunderstorms are expected this afternoon and tonight. Some thunderstorms may be strong to severe and will be capable of producing damaging straight line winds, large hail, and isolated tornadoes.

The best chance for severe weather will be north of Interstate 10 and east of US Highway 281 where the Storm Prediction Center currently has an enhanced risk of severe storms.

Through the afternoon the main threat will be large hail with discrete cells, but as storms form into a line along the front the threat will shift more to damaging winds with an isolated tornado possible through the evening and into the overnight hours.

Brief heavy rainfall is also possible which could lead to some minor flooding of low water crossings and could cause some minor rises on area creeks and rivers. The best chance for moderate to heavy rainfall is east of Interstate 35 and north of Interstate 10.

This hazardous weather warning is for the following counties:

Llano • Burnet • Williamson • Val Verde • Edwards • Real • Kerr • Bandera • Gillespie • Kendall • Blanco • Hays • Travis • Bastrop • Lee • Kinney • Uvalde • Medina • Bexar • Comal • Guadalupe • Caldwell • Fayette • Maverick • Zavala • Frio • Atascosa • Wilson • Karnes • Gonzales • De Witt • Lavaca • Dimmit
