Price Center Seeking Art Focusing On Worldwide Fall & Winter Holiday Traditions

“We had a terrific show based on this theme last year,” said Clay DeStefano executive director. “And now, with so many more artists showing regularly at the Center, we anticipate an even better one this year.”

San Marcos, TX – For the second year in a row, the Price Center is seeking local artists’ work inspired by fall and winter holiday traditions from around the world. A selection of submitted art will hang throughout the Center from mid-November until early January as part of the facility’s traditional holiday season displays.

“We had a terrific show based on this theme last year,” said Clay DeStefano executive director. “And now, with so many more artists showing regularly at the Center, we anticipate an even better one this year.”

DeStefano, who serves as the primary curator for the shows, goes on to explain the theme is intentionally broad to provide artists with a way to express themselves beyond traditional, iconic and largely American imagery.

“Holiday Traditions from Around the World” is a juried show open to all area artists – all ages, skill levels, and all media. Interested parties are invited to submit up to two works for consideration.  The CALL FOR ART will be held Mon., Oct. 29 – Fri. Nov. 2 from 9-5 daily. Applications/releases will available at the Call.

As always, all artwork must be an original creation and family friendly. A $10 entry fee for up to 2 pieces is required at the time of submission. Holiday Traditions from Around the World will hang throughout the Center Nov. 12, 2018 – January 7, 2019. The Opening Reception will be held November 15 from 6-8 p.m. during the monthly Third Thursday Downtown Walkabout.

Since creating the Rotating Community Art Galleries two years ago — thanks in part to grant funding from the San Marcos Arts Commission — the Center has hosted more than 3 dozen solo, group and pop-up art shows.

Additional opportunities to express oneself creatively at the Price Center range from a porcelain painting club and quilting bee to one-off art workshops, musical performances, seasonal theatrical productions and film showings.

For more information, please call 512-392-2900, stop by 222 W. San Antonio St., Downtown San Marcos Monday through Friday or visit price-center.org.
