San Marcos, TX – In honor of all things San Marcos, the Price Center is seeking original artworks from local artists of all ages for an upcoming Community Art Show titled “San Marvelous.”
Work selected for the show will hang throughout the Center from early August through September.
“San Marcos has so many interesting aspects to it — from a rich and storied history to the river and other natural resources, to lots of iconic landmarks and local lore like mermaids,” said Clay DeStefano, executive director. “We’re hoping for a real San Marcos-centric show.”
“San Marvelous” will be the fifth juried show — open to all area artists — to hang in the Center’s Rotating Community Gallery spaces. The Rotating Galleries, which are free and open daily Mon. – Fri. and in the evening and on weekends by event, are funded in part through a grant from the San Marcos Arts Commission.
This Call for Art is open to all ages, skill levels and media. Interested artists are invited to submit up to two works for consideration. To help offset staff time and supplies, there is a $10 entry fee (for 2 pieces) and, if the work sells, a 20% commission goes to the Center.
As always, all artwork must be an original creation and family friendly. Works for consideration may be dropped off at the Center Mon., July 23 through Mon., July 30.
The Price Center is a unique, non-profit, community event center focusing on the performing and cultural arts. Low cost and no cost opportunities to participate directly in the arts are available daily.
From free dance classes and concerts to theater and film offerings to the gallery shows, a porcelain painting club, a quilting bee and one-off art workshops, there’s truly something for everyone.
The Center’s free monthly Third Thursday activities celebrate all of the creative arts and offer even more chances to enjoy them while meeting friends and neighbors.
