Price Center To Focus On San Marvelous Art, Community Sing-Along For Third Thursday

The unique history, energy, and spirit of San Marcos come to life via this eclectic mix of paintings, photographs, drawings, sculptures, assemblages, fabric works, stained glass, and mosaics…

T
wo distinctly San Marcos art shows, live music, a pop-up art market, and a community sing-along will entertain and engage visitors to Third Thursday activities this week at the Price Center.

As always, the Center’s events will run from 6-9 p.m., are free, open to all, and complimentary refreshments will be served.

Musical performances will kick off on the Ron & Marie Jager Theatre stage in the 1910 Room with Gretchen and the Scotts with their fabulous original tunes, featuring Gretchen & Scott McMahon and Scott Wade.

A group-karaoke-style community sing-along will follow at 7p.m., with Tawni Bates and her karaoke set-up facilitating.  Everyone is invited to join in on the singing.

A come-and-go Artists’ Reception for two new art shows — San Marvelous and Animals in Abstraction — will be held from 6-9 p.m.  Guests will enjoy this truly engaging original show — now hanging in the Tea Room and Main Parlor — featuring 40+ original creations by more than 20 local artists.

The unique history, energy, and spirit of San Marcos come to life via this eclectic mix of paintings, photographs, drawings, sculptures, assemblages, fabric works, stained glass, and mosaics. Most of the works displayed are for sale. A portion of the proceeds support the non-profit Price Center.

Veronique Hahn’s colorful and playful, abstracted expressionistic depictions of animals — now hanging in the 1910 Room — continues the energy and flavor of the group show. Six new quilts in the Stairway Gallery do as well.

Additional activities planned throughout the downtown area for the night include several opportunities to hear and see other live music, see and purchase art, enjoy special activities and save on various featured products, foods and beverages.

You can learn more about specific activities planned at each of these location by visiting downtownsanmarcos.org or on Facebook @smtxthirdthursday.

Guests to the Price Center can easily stroll to any number of the other participating sites downtown and take in live music, part of the new Mermaid March, and a few Murals along the way as well.

For more information about Price Center activities, stop by at 222 W. San Antonio Street in downtown San Marcos or visit price-center.org.
