Price Center To Host Bad Seed Production

The Black Diamond Cabaret Theatre will present its fall production just in time for Halloween, with the classic thriller, The Bad Seed, opening Thurs., Oct. 26, at 7:30 p.m. in the historic 1910 Room at the Price Center in downtown San Marcos.

The play and 1950’s film, which is based on a story by Maxwell Anderson and is considered an icon in the suspense thriller genre, will run through Nov. 5 with both evening and matinee performances.

Directed and produced by Lee Colee,’ The Bad Seed marks the 5th season of the Black Diamond Cabaret Theatre’s fall productions at the Price Center.

Audiences of all ages will enjoy this dark story of a “typical young couple” with an eight-year-old daughter living a charmed and happy life that is not what it seems. “It’s perfect for the Halloween season,” said Colee’. “The talented, local cast truly builds the suspense through to the explosive ending.”

Playing the pivotal role of Rhoda, the little girl, is newcomer to the Black Diamond Stage, 11-year-old Ella Erwin who is riveting as she holds her own in a cast of professional adult actors. Christine, Rhoda’s mother is Lee Colee’ Studio alumni and now the drama director at Wimberley High School, Calen Cabler.  Film actress, Carla Daws from Wimberley is in the dramatic role of Mrs. Daigle whose son dies under suspicious circumstances. Her husband is played by Marvin Carson.

Also from Wimberley is Mary Arizpe as the nosy neighbor, Jason Foreman a Wimberley stage icon, plays the creepy handyman.  From Dripping Springs comes Chris Martin taking on the role of the hen-pecked neighbor.  From San Marcos comes Guy Ben Moshe another well-known local actor who takes on the role of Richard Bravo, an award-winning crime writer and Christine’s father.  Tamara Keithley is the local school teacher, Miss Fern, Andy Gomez is an eager young reporter and David Young as Rhoda’s father round out the ensemble.
