Price Center To Host Musical Theatre Boot Camp

Price Center To Host Musical Theatre Boot Camp
The Price Center is pleased to again welcome Lee Coleé Studios and her annual Musical Theatre Boot Camp, for their upcoming presentation of the classic Broadway Musical “42nd Street.” The Camp, which officially begins June 8 and runs through June 28 features 12 days of intense tap dance rehearsals and coaching, vocal skills and acting techniques leading up to 9 performances of the engaging musical produced by the Black Diamond Caberet Theatre.
The epitome of intergenerational activities emphasized and encouraged by the Price Center, the  cast consists of 35 selected kids ages 8-17 from Wimberley, San Marcos, New Braunfels, San Antonio, Dallas, Dripping Springs, Lockhart, Austin and Canyon Lake along with their parents, grandparents and other adult volunteers.  Participants will initially focus on transforming the Price Center stage into a Broadway-like set and preparing for the big production. The final phase of their training will be the nine performances of “42nd Street” at the Price Center.
A professional performer and director, Coleé will also choreograph the performance.  TV’s “Friday Night Lights” actress Kathleen Griffith is slated to be assistant director and Sam Heaton, a classically trained operatic bass and a former Camp alumnus will be music director.
Evening performances will be offered at 7:30 p.m. Friday, June 19 (Opening Night) as well as June, 20, 25, 26 & 27. Matinees will be presented at 2:30 p.m. on June 20, 21, 27 & 28. Ticket price is $18.00 at Blackdiamondshows.com.  Info at 512/847-7934 or lee@atnip.net
