Projects Affecting San Marcos Traffic March 22-28, 2015

HUNTER RD: The next phase of the Hunter Road widening project continues through May 2015. Construction includes street widening and the installation of new water, wastewater and drainage pipe. Traffic will be one-way northbound on Hunter between Dixon and Bishop. Southbound traffic will detour at Bishop, Craddock and Wonder World. Residents along Hopkins south of Bishop will be able to access their homes by taking Bishop to Belvin and back to Hopkins. TxDOT, 512.393.8235
 
111 E. SAN ANTONIO: A National Corn Dog Day event will be held on the courthouse lawn on March 21 from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. All lanes in both directions will be closed for this event. San Marcos Main Street Program, 512.393.8430
 
READ & MOORE STREET: Installation of a new water line connection at the intersection of Read and Moore Streets until Sunday, March 22, weather permitting. All traffic on Moore between Read and Blanco Hall Drive will be one-way heading south toward Old RR 12. There will be no left turn from Blanco Hall Drive onto Moore, resulting in right turns only toward Old RR 12. Use caution and pay attention to all appropriate signage. VICTORY GARDENS NEIGHBORHOOD: Starting on March 10, 2015 from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. milling and overlay project will begin in Victory Gardens for the following streets: Hines, Invasion, Jones, Knox, Marshall, Nimitz, Reyes, Stillwell and Ellis. All streets will be passable to traffic. Vehicles should be parked off the street or they may be towed at owners’ expense. Please drive slowly, use caution in the work zone and obey all appropriate signage and flaggers. Project length estimate is 4 – 6 weeks depending on weather. UNIVERSITY DRIVE/LBJ TO CM ALLEN: One lane eastbound will be closed for sidewalk installation every day, 24 hours, until the end of March. Please use caution and pay attention to all appropriate signage to include signs, arrow boards and barricades. City of San Marcos CIP Dept., 512.393.8130
 
ALTO AT MIDWAY: Construction will be performed until May 2, 2015 from 7:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. causing all lanes in both directions to be closed. Please obey all appropriate traffic signage. M&C Fonseca Construction, Inc. 830.596.1754
 
IH-35 AT YARRINGTON: Left and center lane closures southbound from 500 feet north of Yarrington overpass to 200 feet south of the overpass March 23-26, 2015 from 8 p.m. – 5 a.m. nightly. Pay attention to appropriate road signage and proceed with caution. TxDOT, 832.657.6897
 
EAST SAN ANTONIO STREET: Every Saturday from 8 a.m. – 3 p.m.  Half a block of street closed from the alley to N. LBJ for the Farmers Market on the Square. Main Street Program, 512.393.8430
LONG TERM ROAD PROJECTS: 
  • MOORE STREET: Moore Street is closed from Read to Holland Street until 2016 for dormitory construction. Texas State University FPDC, 512.245.2202
  • NORTH LBJ AT ACORN: Reconstruction of N. LBJ will continue until end of March 2015 in conjunction with the N. LBJ reconstruction project for street, sidewalk, drainage, water and wastewater improvements. Acorn Street can be accessed from Chestnut during this time period.   • NORTH LBJ: Until Spring of 2015. Reconstruction project for street, sidewalk, drainage, water and wastewater improvements. Motorists will be detoured one way northbound on LBJ from Forest to Holland Streets and will use Chestnut as a southbound route during construction. Engineering/Capital Improvements, 512.393.8130
