Acer Water Tanks, a San Marcos-based supplier of water tanks to the U.S. and Mexico, will host a no-cost, informational workshop designed to help San Marcos property owners understand and take advantage of rainwater harvesting rebate opportunities offered by the city of San Marcos and Hays County. Owners of San Marcos homes and commercial properties may receive a rebate of up to 50% of the total system cost of a total system. The workshop will include the construction of a water tank on site and detailed information about rain collection benefits.City officials and rain harvesting experts will be on hand to answer questions.

The collection and storage of rain before it runs into streets and gutters, rainwater harvesting provides many benefits:

•      It helps the environment by conserving water and reducing stormwater runoff.
•      Plants love it! Rainwater is low in dissolved minerals and almost ph neutral.
•      It’s an alternative water supply and exempt from drought restrictions.
•      Rainwater is free. All you have to purchase is a collection system.

To encourage rainwater harvesting, the city of San Marcos offers a rebate of up to 50% of the total system cost, including rainwater tanks, screened gutters, leaf screens, first-flush diverters, primary filtration systems, tank pad / foundation, pumps, and backflow devices installed at the city water meter. For more information, call 877-223-7784.

Starts at 9 a.m. to noon, Saturday, June 6, 2015 at Acer Water Tanks: 1600 Clovis R. Barker Rd., San Marcos, TX 78666
