Ramp Opening On Westbound SH 71, Temporary Closure And Detour

AUSTIN — On Saturday morning, Nov. 5, the on ramp from the westbound SH 71 general purpose lanes to 71 Toll will open.

This ramp, just west of SH 130, will allow drivers coming from north and southbound SH 130 to access the FM 973 overpass and bypass the traffic signal, which should improve traffic flow in the area.

No tolls will be charged at this time. Tolling operations on 71 Toll are expected to begin in early 2017.

Also on Saturday, Cheviot Lane at westbound SH 71 will close for approximately six weeks starting at 10 a.m. Traffic will be detoured to Terry Lane in order to access SH 71 or Cheviot Lane.

Work will proceed weather permitting. Please see the attached map for details regarding the closure and detour route.

Road signs have been placed to alert drivers of the closure. Motorists should allow extra time to travel through this area during the affected hours. TxDOT asks the traveling public to be patient and remain aware when traveling through the work zone.

Closure updates available at www.sh71express.com, 1-844-202-7830, Twitter.com/SH71_Express and at www.DriveTexas.org.
