Rams Advance To Second Round

Saturday, the Hill Country Christian School Rams defeated the Conroe Calvary Baptist School Eagles at home in the first round of the TAPPS 1A state tournament, 70-15.

The Rams started off fast with their press leading to several turnovers from the “Flack Attack” set by brothers Peyton and Brodie Flack. They got out to an early demanding lead of 16-4 early in the first quarter.

The second quarter was not as strong for the Rams as they only scored 18 points, but Calvary scored a mere three. Hill Country had a demanding lead of 47-7 going into the half.

The Rams third quarter was not too strong offensively only scoring 13 points. However, they played stellar defense not letting the Eagles score once. The score going into the fourth quarter was 60-7.

The final quarter was a sentimental quarter for the Rams seniors as they cleared the bench until about four minutes left, Coach Justin Neuhaus subbed back in the two senior boys, letting Jiro Daniels and Geoffrey Donoho finish their last home basketball game on Hill Country’s court. The final score was 70-15 the Rams taking home the win.

Tuesday, February 23, Hill Country looks to play Mission Juan Diego in Mission. Whoever wins this game will look to play in the Regional Finals and be a step closer to a State Championship. If the Rams win this game it’ll be the first time Rams made it to the third round of playoffs in four years.
