San Marcos – The San Marcos Hill Country Rams traveled to take on Austin Hill Country’s Knights on their home turf.
In the first quarter, the Knights quickly put up 24 points with the Rams following behind with 14.
However, the Rams took control of the second quarter notching 20 points of their own while limiting the Knights putting a miniscule six. At halftime, the Rams were up 34-30.
After halftime the Rams kicked into high gear and put yet even more points on the board only missing only a two-point conversion to take a tremendous lead of 60-30.
In the final frame, the Rams were the ones who didn’t score, however, they did manage to limit the Knight’s offense to 14 points to secure a 60-44 win.
“We just got lazy and instead of forty-fiving them we let them score 14 points,” said junior Kohl Zgarba.
Senior Josh Lyerla rushed for a total of 315 yards with 94 passing yards from 5 completed passes and 10.5 tackles. Meanwhile, senior Ian Johnson rushed for a total of 42 yards with 2 tackles and Dillan Swift, a sophomore had an impressive 9 tackles.
“We played well but not our best. Yes we beat them but we should’ve slaughtered them,” said head coach Chris George.
