Randi Rupp Receives Invite To 2017 USA Softball National Team Selection Camp

OKLAHOMA CITY – Texas State University junior pitcher Randi Rupp has been extended an invitation by Amateur Softball Association (ASA)/USA Softball to the 2017 USA Softball Women’s National Team Selection Camp. The five-day camp will be held Jan. 1-5, 2017 at the Eddie C. Moore Softball Complex in Clearwater, Fla.

The two-time NFCA All-Region Second Team selection from Mont Belvieu, Texas, is one of only 43 to receive the prestigious invitation to take part in the annual camp.

During the selection process, athletes will participate in position drills as well as simulated games and be evaluated by the USA Softball Women’s National Team Selection Committee (WNTSC). Athletes who make the 2017 USA Softball WNT roster will be competing at a Pan American Games/World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) World Championship Qualifier in Florida, where the U.S. will look to qualify for the 2018 WBSC Women’s World Championship to be held in Chiba, Japan and the 2019 Pan American Games to be held in Lima, Peru.

Rupp, who finished third in the NCAA with 316 strikeouts last season, is a two-time Sun Belt Conference First Team honoree and carries a 2.18 career earned-run average through 494.1 innings pitched. Her 609 career strikeouts and 22 career shutouts both rank fourth on the Texas State all-time list.

In 2016, Rupp led Texas State to the NCAA Tuscaloosa Regional with a 1.66 ERA, good for 24th in the NCAA. She amassed 245.0 inning pitched, including 20 complete games and also totaled a pair of saves. She posted an impressive 30-14 record with her 30 wins ranking fourth-best in the nation.
