Raymond Will Not Seek Third Term On Hays CISD Board

It has been an incredible and humbling honor to serve and give back to the students and educators of the district that has played such a pivotal role in shaping who I am…

Hays CISD Trustee Holly Raymond announced Tuesday that she will not seek re-election for a third term as one of the at-large trustees on the Hays CISD Board of Trustees.

Holly Raymond, Hays CISD Trustee

In a touching social media post to her constituents, she explained that her decision is based on her desire to focus on a new career opportunity with a non-profit organization that provides services for children statewide.

Raymond, a 1996 graduate of Hays High School was first elected to the Board in May 2012. During her tenure, she was twice elected by her colleagues as an officer on the Board – in 2014, as vice president, and in 2016, as the youngest-ever president of the Hays CISD Board. She and her husband, Jeff, have three children, Madalyn, Beck, and Bristol, who are all Hays CISD students.

Raymond will continue to serve on the Board through the end of her term which concludes in May.

The full text of Raymond’s announcement is below:

“With the filing period opening tomorrow for the next Hays CISD Board of Trustees election, I want to tell you – my friends, family and community, that I will not be seeking reelection for a third term. It has been an incredible and humbling honor to serve and give back to the students and educators of the district that has played such a pivotal role in shaping who I am, but now is the right time to pass the baton.

The decision to not seek reelection was, surprisingly, not a difficult one. The office of At-Large Trustee is one of great importance that I believe both demands and deserves its holder to surpass an extremely high bar of focus, time and energy. With the ever busier life Jeff & I continue to lead with our own family and the new role I’ve proudly taken on with Upbring to raise the standards for child welfare across the state, I know that I cannot continue to meet that bar and the high standards that I set for myself as your At-Large Trustee.

Lastly, I want to thank you for the trust you placed in me to advocate on behalf of your children and our district. I look forward to continue contributing to this community that I love so much in any way I can.”
