RECAP: San Marcos Bears Win Unusual Game Against Round Rock Christian Academy

Sean Allen | Sports Editor

ROUND ROCK — The San Marcos Academy Bears (3-1) won against the Round Rock Christian Academy Crusaders (1-3) 56-0 in a matchup that was anything but ordinary.

The Bears only needed 10 offensive snaps to score 5 touchdowns, meanwhile, the Crusaders were only able to average a yard per play leading to 33 yards gained on the night.

A major factor of the night was the stellar defense behind the Bears.

Leading the way on defense was Sophomore Defensive Tackle piling up seven tackles, along with Sophomore Defensive Back Cole Krackau and Senior Defensive End Julian Hernandez-Enriquez adding six and five tackles respectfully.

As a team, the Bears tallied seven tackles for loss, two interceptions including a pick-six from Senior Linebacker Brett Houston, and nine Quarterback Hurries.

Special teams also contributed with Junior Kicker Inaki Infante having a solid night connecting on all seven conversion attempts. Senior Alex Davis chipped in by scoring a touchdown on a 40-yard punt return.

The Bears will be returning home Friday for their lone conference matchup with the Austin Veritas Defenders at Ingram Stadium which will determine playoff standings at the end of the regular season.
