Rio Claro Studio To Host Artist Earlene Graham During 3rd Thursday Gallery Walk

Rio Claro Studio, the intimate concept space is downtown San Marcos Texas welcomes featured artist Earlene Graham during the upcoming 3rd Thursday Gallery Walk this Thursday, June 16, 2016 from 6 pm – 9 pm. This is Graham’s first show at the gallery. The event will be held rain or shine and is free and is open to the public.

As part of Rio Claro Studio’s ongoing series focusing on innovative local women artists and craftspeople, this month’s featured artist is Earlene Graham, a resident of San Marcos. Graham will be showing a collection of dolls and doll-crafts. Perhaps best known for her Goddesses, which she has shown at ArtSquaredSMTX and other venues locally, these are just part of a long tradition of making dolls going back to her childhood.

Only upon retirement did Earlene discover the world of Art Dolls and since then has been influenced by Patty Medaris Culea, Barbara Willis, Elinor Pearce Bailey and others. Graham said recently, “Dollhouse miniatures were a creative outlet while I worked as a registered nurse. Creating dolls from paper is my newest interest and I am busy making mermaids for the upcoming Mermaid Festival.” Some of these will no doubt be on display.

This event on Thursday is being hosted by the same consortium of downtown San Marcos galleries that have hosted similar events in 2016 and includes 218studioworks and Dahlia Woods Gallery. Re-branded as 3rd Thursday Gallery Walk, the galleries hope to in grain the date and time of the event in people’s minds as it becomes a regular event.

This month’s gallery walk is the last of the spring season – 3rd Thursday Gallery Walk will start again with a bang in September with impressive artists and shows already being scheduled for that first event in the fall.
