Road Construction Projects Affecting San Marcos Traffic June 21-27, 2015
 
HUNTER RD: The next phase of the Hunter Road widening project continues through mid-June 2015. Construction includes street widening and the installation of new water, wastewater and drainage pipe. Traffic will be one-way northbound on Hunter between Dixon and Bishop. Southbound traffic will detour at Bishop, Craddock and Wonder World. Residents along Hopkins south of Bishop will be able to access their homes by taking Bishop to Belvin and back to Hopkins. TxDOT, 512.393.8235
 
HWY 80 FROM CLAREWOOD TO IH-35: TxDot is widening SH 80 from Clarewood to IH-35 to allow a second left lane for traffic traveling from SH 80 to South IH-35. Construction will last approximately three months, weather permitting. TxDOT, 512.924.1715
 
LBJ & HOPKINS ST: Milling and overlay operations at the intersection of LBJ & Hopkins Street to Charles Austin Dr. nightly from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Crews will work  for approximately one week and intermittently thereafter until the anticipated completion of the project by June 30, 2015. 100 BLK WESTWOODS & 200 BLK OF TALBOT: Portions of West Woods Street and Talbot Street will be under construction, with alternating lane closures and one way through traffic with flaggers present for the installation of sanitary sewer site utilities. Vehicles will still be able to access Woods Street garage and the Alkek parking garage during this phase of construction. All lanes will be fully open to traffic on Friday August 14, 2015. COMANCHE ST FROM WOODS TO SESSOM DR: Comanche Street overlay project will continue on weekdays from June 19,  2015 through Friday, June 26, 2015 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., weather permitting. Traffic will be detoured to Sessom Dr., University Dr., Academy St., Woods St., and Lindsey St. City of San Marcos Streets Division, 512.393.8036
 
700-800 BLOCK OF N. LBJ DRIVE: Portions of the N. LBJ Bus loop will be under construction with one lane open into campus from Sessom onto N. LBJ Dr. and one lane leaving campus on N. LBJ Dr. to Sessom. Vehicles will be able to access the Pleasant Street Garage as well as Pleasant Street. The project will be complete and lanes fully re-opened by July 31, 2015, weather permitting. NORTH LBJ AT YOUNGER: Reconstruction of N.LBJ will continue until end of July 2015 in conjunction with the N.LBJ reconstruction project for street, sidewalk, drainage, water and wastewater improvements. EAST SAN ANTONIO STREET: Every Saturday from 8 a.m. – 3 p.m.  Half a block of street closed from the alley to N. LBJ for the Farmers Market on the Square. Main Street Program, 512.393.8430
 
LONG TERM ROAD PROJECTS:
  • MOORE STREET: Moore Street is closed from Read to Holland Street until 2016 for dormitory construction. Texas State University FPDC, 512.245.2202
  • NORTH LBJ: Until August of 2015. Reconstruction project for street, sidewalk, drainage, water and wastewater improvements. Motorists will be detoured one way northbound on LBJ from Forest to Holland Streets and will use Chestnut as a southbound route during construction. Engineering/Capital Improvements, 512.393.8130
  • TxDOT HUNTER ROAD (FM 2439) PROJECT: Lane closures on Hunter Road between Wonder World Drive and Bishop Street for road, bridge, drainage, bicycle and pedestrian improvements through the Fall 2015. TxDOT, 512.282.2113 or City of San Marcos CIP/ Engineering, 512.393.8130.
