Staff Report
Last week Kyle started the long-awaited reconstruction of Lehman Road. Kyle residents should be prepared for detours during the roadwork.
Please remember to support your local businesses
as they are still open during construction.
Underground utilities will kickoff this reconstruction project, with an estimated project wrap up the timeline of 24 months and the closed portion of FM 150 to Masonwood to last several months.
However, inclement weather and other issues can affect the anticipated schedule throughout the entire project.
Motorists should be prepared for detours and closures during the construction period. The contractor is required to display signage in advance of traffic changes, lane shifts, detours, and closures.
**Note: as work moves north, the contractor will set new detours.**
• WHITTENBUR
The contractor working on new apartments on Cromwell notified the city about the closure of Whittenburg at Cromwell Dr. This road was closed on or about 1/3/20 for a period of approx. 11 months. Several streets surrounding the site will experience temporary lane restrictions/street closures for concrete work.
• WINDY HILL RD.
A major reconstruction project on Windy Hill is coming in the near future. Read more about that project here.
• LEHMAN RD. (See more detail about this bond project here)
**Construction areas along the roadway are closed to pedestrians. Work in this area is on-going with heavy machinery present and should be avoided to prevent injury.**
The contractor continues to work from Hiver to Bunton Creek Road.
On April 16, 2020, weather permitting, Goldenrod will be closed for approximately seven days for full reconstruction of the Goldenrod, Lehman, Hiver Intersection.
The Intersection will be constructed in halves allowing egress and ingress onto Hiver Street.
Steeplechase Park/Dog Park will be accessible from Brandi Circle.
• POST ROAD
Post Road from FM150 to Enterprise St closed to through traffic during the daytime on March 12 & 13th for road repair. The roadway will be opened in the evenings.
• LAKE KYLE UPDATE
Lake Kyle Park playground is temporarily closed for repairs.
• BURLESON ST.
Began Construction September 2018 (approximately 24-month project) —
**The roadway north of Schlemmer is not safe for walkers; as soon as it is we will notify the public.**
In related news, work continues moving north, Burleson opening to traffic up through Rodriguez street with workers present, so drive cautiously through the work area. Follow traffic detour for access to James Adkins.
Burleson road work north of James Adkins has been delayed due to weather and Union Pacific contractor and City permits requirements.
Burleson from Spring Branch to the tracks is closed until approximately May (Union Pacific Railroad will coordinate their work on the RR crossing during that timeframe).
That section of the roadway is expected to be closed for approximately 4 months. See this map for detours and please follow posted signs in the area.
Expect minor disruptions as there is some pending work (illumination, landscaping) on Burleson from Center Street to Rodriguez. We will use social media to communicate any issue/temporary closures if needed.
The estimated completion of the entire road is June 2020.
NOTE: All work planned work dates are estimates; weather and other issues can delay work.
Details about this project: This is a planned major reconstruction of the road and part of the 2013 road bond approved by Kyle voters.
The work involves moving utilities and adding turn lanes.
The overall project, which began Sept. 10, 2018, is anticipated to last a total of about 24 months.
**Note: as work moves north toward Marketplace, the contractor will set new detours. We will work to keep everyone updated.**
