Hays County Courthouse, TX – Intersection improvements at US 290 West and Henly Loop were expected to begin on or about Feb 28. The upcoming construction operations will require a full closure of the intersection of Henly Loop and US 290 W in Dripping Springs.
The project was originally started under Commissioner Walt Smith, Pct. 4, but following the county’s 2021 redistricting, it moved to Commissioner Lon Shell in Precinct 3.
When construction begins, the Henly Loop/US 290 W intersection east of FM 165 will be closed for upgrades and the construction of a right turn lane. The duration of the closure is approximately three (3) months.
Crews will provide a detour route with proper signage and message boards for Hays County residents. The project limits will extend from the intersection to Old Red Ranch Road.
“A new left-turn lane onto US 290 and a right turn lane onto Henly Loop will improve safety and traffic operations at the intersection,” Commissioner Shell said. “Hays County thanks residents in advance for their cooperation and attentiveness during this time.”
Construction is anticipated to be complete later this spring/early summer, weather and other factors permitting.
