Rollover Claims Life, Injures 2 Juveniles Sunday

All southbound lanes of IH-35 were closed for four hours while the San Marcos Police Department Collision Investigation Team examined the crash scene.

A single-vehicle collision killed one San Marcos High School student and injured two others Sunday afternoon on IH-35.

 

The driver of the vehicle, a 1996 Ford Explorer, lost control and rolled several times after striking the center barrier near the 206 southbound mile marker at 3:43 p.m.

 

The backseat passenger, a 15-year-old girl, was ejected from the vehicle. She was pronounced deceased by Justice of the Peace JoAnn Prado at 4:45 pm.

 

The driver, a 16-year-old boy, and front seat passenger, a 15-year-old girl, suffered non life-threatening injuries and were transported to St David’s South Austin Hospital.

 

All southbound lanes of IH-35 were closed for four hours while the San Marcos Police Department Collision Investigation Team examined the crash scene. This is the seventh collision the team has investigated this year and the fifth highway fatality in the City this year.
